Thoroughly Enjoyable

I had a thoroughly enjoyable run this morning. It was reminiscent of my Sunday morning runs I used to have before I really started training for marathons etc. I did 19K's in 1:35, average 4:58 per K. It was good just to run without feeling I had to actually have achieved something special time or distance wise. I just enjoyed running. It was a bit chilly at the start but I didn't take long to warm up.

I don't think I have mentioned before that I am doing the City to Surf for the first time this year. I am giving the Bridge to Brisbane a miss. It is the weekend before and as it takes up so much of Sunday, I thought, being away all weekend in Sydney the next week, it would not be fair to the family. Besides, I have started a project with Jordan, my grandson. We are building a cubby house/fort in the back yard. We bought some materials today and started digging the post holes. I don't think he is going to let me have too many weekends off until the project is complete.

i don't think you'll miss much with the B2B. i've found it to be too full of first timers that zigzag and line up in front. oy!

i look forward to your City to Surf report.

Those 'ordinary' runs are special in their own way, aren't they? They are runs for the purists: those that simply want to enjoy a run as it is without the pressure of distance or time intruding.

I have entered the C2S too and hopefully we might be able to catch up at some point. It's a great day and I know you will enjoy it. I imagine you will be in the Sun-Herald 1 Group (old Group A) where I anticipate being as well.

I commend you, too, Rob for your commitment to family in deciding what races you will do.

I have never done it but I've heard as you probably have too that it is one of the greatest races to participate in that there is.

Post a photos of the cubby house and some blue prints when your done, I'm going to be needing to build one soon enough ;)

Great to hear Eddie that you are coming to race C2S. The whole race is just an experience to soak up. Always a fun day. I'll see you there next month.

Rob, we are renovating at the moment and have quite a bit of timber and other stuff being pulled out that can't be re-used.
If you want to come and have a rummage through at some stage during the project, just send me PM to arrange.
That run sounds perfect for this period of the year.

Well done Eddie - I had a fort when I was a kid - good fun!

I hope to see you at the City to Surf. It's my favourite event/race. I'm in the A1 start. Will look out for you before, or down at Bondi afterwards.

Great to hear you just enjoying your run for no particular reason other than just running Edde. Great news that you are coming down for City2Surf. It truly is a magical day. Looking forward to seeing you again.
