London - 4 weeks

I had a good run this morning. I headed out from Park Road with Tigger. Tigger ran 25K at Mt Coot-tha yesterday so didn't need to run hills today. We ran out to Newstead, 14k where Tigger set off back again while I continued on for another 2k before turning back. I ran 32k at 5:01 pace.

3 weeks until the Vienna Half and 4 weeks until the London Marathon.

Ewen, have no fear
I have been in Eddie's ear!
We are expecting a 3.10 run
Which should be "fun".

This morning he set off at a pace
I don't recall entering a race!
Even despite the heat
And ignoring Tigger's sore feet
I think Eddie had fun
In the blazing Qld sun!

I bet Tigger took shotcuts
to keep up, no ifs or buts
with a pace I never manage to get
Unless it's a race or a beer bet!

Think I'll put $10 on Rob to run 3:14:59 at London.

Boston Qualifier for 2011. Good pace Rob.

No pressure here Rob
You are up for the job
Just have to maintain that pace
Whilst enjoying the London race.

Ewen I did contemplate a short cut
Due to the pain in my butt
And with Eddie steaming ahead
It was with considerable dread

My pace went to slow
And I gave the whistle a blow!
Two "large" walkers had to be past
At their language I was aghast.

They showed no respect indeed
For an exhausted woman in need
Or Eddie the man
The leader with the plan!

With another early start
Eddie could take heart
Surrounded by nuts who prefer an ultra run
There was high humidity and little sun!

So off they did go
Many asking that the pace be slow!
Eddie's question was the number of miles
He clearly ignored all the "smiles"

With the exception of THE man
Who was working to a different plan
They had all legs of lead
And would have preferred to be in bed!

What the newbies didn't know
Is that Eddie can NOT go slow!
So as we turned for home
Eddie took off alone!

Eddie headed off into the mist
For others their legs did resist
Attempts to try and match Eddie's pace
Be sure to watch this space!

For Eddie the Man
The leader with THE plan
Is on target for a great London run
Even if he can't see the sun!!

He'd be no good running with our Wednesday group - we all run slowly! We'd have to take the short-cut lap of the lake and he could go the long way by himself! I'm still not betting on anything faster than 3:14:59 in London.

As the volcano continued to spew
Did Eddie get to see something new
From his flight that was London bound
Or is it still on the ground?

If it hasn't passed the equator
Then Eddie will arrive much later
Than was the original plan
But then, this is Eddie the Man!

Has a decision been made?
About a Vienna upgrade
The chance to learn all that history
And remove much of the mystery

Will surely get Eddie's attention
And that's not to mention
The chance of another 42 under the belt
By a man who is looking svelte!
