Jacaranda Festival 10K

For the third year in a row I ran in the Goodna Jacaranda Festival 10K Fun Run. This year I had a post on CoolRunning. That attracted two CR's, Aidan Hobbs and Graham. We had a field of about 30 runners. A bit disappointing for such an easy going no fuss run. I enterented in the over 55 category as did a local running identity, Tom Nugent. Tom is very fast and won our category and also came in 3rd overall. Darryl Crooke won the race for the third year in a row. He ran 33:25. Aidan came in 20 seconds behind Darryl. David Topp from the Brisbane Road Runners came in 4th. I came 2nd in my category at 43:25 and 7th overall. Barry McGaffin of Intraining came third.

There were presentations after the event. Category winners were awarded trophies and cash prizes. I received an engraved medal and $30 cash. My first ever cash prize. After anouncing the category winners, Darryl, Aidan and David were in the Open category, they then awarde prizes to the overall place-getters. I thought that would be the first three but they continued on to the 7th place and I received another $30. How's that! Don't worry I don't plan on giving up my day job.

Wow - $60! Don't forget to declare it for the tax man ;)

Well done on the 43:25. That's pretty swift for an old fella. I bet it was on the warm/humid side too.

But just imagine Eddie if you did "give up your day job" and were able to train long and hard everyday. You would certainly be in the money more often ;)

Well done.

Not only changed your CR name but turned pro as well huh! Well done mate. Hot times for a small field just quietly. $60 might get you curtains in the cubby?
