Another beautiful morning at Limestone Park in Ipswich, and the 5th annual Par2Park half marathon was, again, a great event. It is incredibly well organised and a credit to the Ipswich Hospital Foundation. The course is a tough one, no doubt about it, but still no excuse for my worst time on that course. No, my 1:45:01 is totally down to lack of preparation.
1st and 2nd places went to Patrick Nyangolo and Oswald Revilian Kahurzi in 1:08:49 and 1:08:50. Patrick has won C2S 3 times and Oswald has won the GC and Sydney marathons. The course is a 1.1k then 4 x 5k hilly laps. These guys lapped me in my second lap, their third, at about the 9k mark. Absolutely amazing running! The guy who cam third, Hintsa Mabrahtu, didn’t lap me until about my 11.5k. Hintsa finished in 1:13:48.
Tigger, who is training for the 100K at Glasshouse in September, ran 1:48:43, this after her training run in Toohey Forest on Saturday.

Ewen, think before you speak
Eddie was Not feeling weak!
He now only seems to run
On the day known as Sun
Despite this being so
He sure gave it a good go!
Eddie don't complain about the pace
You still ran a good race!
Rob, I can guess you're so slow:
It's running with Tigger you know,
Her ultra legs have lost their zip
100 miles, like a round-world trip,
Takes forever and needs a pace
Like a snail, not a 1/2 M race.
You guys are too much!
Ewen, that's LOW
I know, I've ALWAYS been slow
Eddie just has the grace
And despite the slow pace
To stay with me as we run
In the "blazing" Qld sun.
This weekend will see another race
And Eddie's 1/2 marathon pace
Will improve out of sight
As his legs haven't lost their bite.
Eddie as you set off for your Sun drive
Assume Digger and I did survive
We've agreed that the pace SHOULD be slow
But neither of us know where to go!
It could make for an interesting run
In the "blazing" Qld sun!
It was to raise money for children in need
That Digger and Tigger did indeed
Set off on a 50k run
Anticipating a bit of fun!
Neither were certain where to go
And as the pack numbers were relatively low
They were in the lead
Ewen, no comments about speed!
Tigger's map reading ain't the best
But she was sure at times they went west
Yet they still reached the coast
And Digger did boast
That he knew the way to the finish line
And that they would reach it in a reasonable time
Then he dropped off the pace
Leaving Tigger to her own race.
Tigger eventually found her way to the spot
Running in the sun was starting to get hot
But where was her partner in crime
As a team, they needed to cross the line.
So off she did go
Would she find him, she did not know
Eventually Digger did appear
Stating he needed a beer
Then they crossed the finish line
In a respectable time
Where the "crowd" cheered them in
As they did win!
Digger made a big blue
Asking Tigger to read the map
Her directions were askew
But they still won - holy crap!
