A surprise result

After my 1:45 at Ipswich last Sunday I didn't have great expectations for today at Noosa. I love the Noosa half. It is a good couse, good weather and loads of friendly people. I set out a little fast, I thought, but was able to sustain a reasonable pace. I worked prettty hard the whole way. I finished in 1:32:06. I was over the moon. My first lap was done in 46:07 and the second in 45:58, so a negative split as well. I also came 4th in the M55-59 category. So am I pleased with myself? You bet!

Congratulations Tigger on you 50K win with digger on Saturday. You truly have taken to ultra running like a duck to water. A terrific result.

Congratulations Scott on your 2:56 Townsville marathon. Well done mate!

Rob runs a one thirty two
for a 1/2 M, out of the blue,
So no harm running like a snail
with Tigger, for she didn't fail
to impress with a 50k run
in the blazing Queensland um,
Rain!

Ewen I case you didn't guess
Queensland is getting some bad press
And it has nothing to do with the sun
Though the rest of the country thinks it is fun!

Eddie felt the need for drastic action
The country needed a distraction
So he ran a good race
At a heart stopping pace!

Only time will tell
If Eddie did cast a spell
That will stop the press
From detailing the Qld mess.

Should it transpire that his plan did fail
Then he'll be back running with the snail
Doing another mystery run
In the state that provides fun!

Congratulations to you too Rob! I know you love the Noosa half otherwise you would have come up to Townsville, I'm sure.

You have been and continue to be a inspirational runner and a supportive friend. Thanks mate.

Ewen, a few weeks ago
When you mentioned that my pace is slow
I pointed out that Eddie still has the grace
To run with me, despite the slow pace!

Now that another run has gone by
Perhaps I should qualify
That earlier statement
And the legs made of cement.

By Qld standards it was freezing
But Eddie's legs were breezing
Long before any sight of the sun
We set off on an "interesting" run!

Another ultra runner came along for the ride
And for much of the run could match Eddie's stride
But as we headed for home
He discovered the feeling of being left alone!

Now Eddie may claim that he doesn't train
If so, then he doesn't suffer any pain
Doing a long hilly run
Forget the blazing sun!

For that last 5km indeed
Eddie did crank up the speed
And us ultra runners did quake
As we were left behind in his wake!

Tigger, I've heard all about Anna,
She'll meet you for just a tenner.
And I'll tell you what Rob's about
His speedy pace there's no doubt
Is due to all the Queensland rain
Snails are now thriving, and a pain
So he leads them running far away.
They keep up a while, then no way
Rob puts the boot in, snails hated
Now no more, they die dehydrated!

Now Qld may have Anna the Spanner
And gave the country Krudd - just name your banner
When it comes to the NRL
Our leaders cannot dispel
The country's overwhelming concern
For the lessons the young do learn.

If only the press would look elsewhere
There would be no need for such despair
Eddie could charm the country with his grace
And mesmerize us with his pace
As for the odd remaining snail
It would get taken out by the next lot of hail!
