Sub 3:10! NO WAY!

Less than a week to the Gold Coast Marathon. Let me make it quite clear that my legs do not have a sub 3:10 in them. I will be very happy if I can get a 3:20. I am trying to stay calm and relaxed leading up to the GC. I am looking forward to it because I have endeavoured to maintain a positive attitude towards it. Tigger is pacing the Half 2:10 bus.

Tigger and I did an easy 16 yesterday. On Saturday Tigger did a 30K then a fast 6 at Sherwood.

I am heading to the coast on Saturday moring with my mates Darryl and Michelle. We will be at the GC Lunch.

All the best for a great run.

Now Eddie, how can you say?
Sub 3:10! No way!
Without the power of positive thought
It will all come to naught.
That having been said
Don't worry if you are in the red
Just as long as you feel fine
When you cross that finish line!
This can be done
Whilst maintaining a level of fun
By envisaging Ewen's next rhyme
You'll cross in record time!

Hope you have a great run whatever you decide as your target. I'm guessing around 3:18.

See you there.

Split the difference. 3:15 it is then. Not sure how Tigger and Ewen can make that rhyme? Good luck Rob hope you run well.

I gave my all to the one
on the last post, as rhyming
goes, I think I'm about done
And given to dreams of Qld sun

One thing though has me concerned:
I envision Rob, raincoat flying
behind, as he hasn't yet learned
Gumboot running is somewhat trying

Wearing all that wet-weather gear
It's heavy mate, don't you know?
You'll think about post-race beer
A 3:10 time will steel the show!

Superflake, Eddie is Superkeen
And I suspect is actually aiming for 3:15!
However, Ewen is right
Let's hope the gumboots aren't tight
Otherwise Eddie's feet will be sore
No matter what the score!

Given the temp this morning
Southerners heed this warning
Running in search of the Qld sun
Sure wasn't much fun!

Eddie sure will have to be bold
To go out in the Qld cold
With only a rain coat to wear
Any skin showing will bear
The effects of the windchill
Not sure if there will be any thrill?
Though Eddie will have the time
To contemplate another bad rhyme!

Have a great run you never know with a relaxed attitude and that good base you have, it may see you to a fast one!

I wish I could be there.

Now Eddie be fair
And do not despair
We just want you to have fun
On your next marathon run!

Sorry, Rob

as you might have guessed I posted the above to the wrong Rob. Still it goes for you too, can't believe you got 3:20 without much of a build up. You best runs may be in front of you.

Congratulations.

Ewen, Eddie's taking his time
To compose the odd line
Is it out of fear that Tigger will write
I told you, I was right?

Ewen said...

Afraid you were wrong mate,
You said he'd run three-ten!
Did he arrive at the race late?
Swapping gumboots and cape?
That's why he missed such a time,
Tying shoelaces on the start line!

We all like to do a good time
Then compose the best humorous rhyme
But mine's not real good
If only I could
Not stuff up on the very last line each time

Ewen, as a female I am always right
So even if Eddie is lost from sight
We can all have some fun
Waiting for him to face the Qld sun!
Given you boys write a good rhyme
Surely for Eddie, it's time
To leave the gumboots and cape
And admit he's in good shape!
