Canberra Marathon 2007

Words simply don't describe my latest marathon experience. How can I possibly articulate how I felt after crossing the finish line to record a personal best time of 3:14:55. My previous best, set in Sydney in 2004, was 3:18:40 giving me a new PB by 3 mins 45 secs.

This was my third Canberra Marathon. My results have been:

2005 3:25:59
2006 3:21:57
2007 3:14:55

Hmmm! If I keep improving at that rate.............?????????????????????????

I have been wanting to recapture the Sydney 2004 experience. That certainly happened on Sunday. The whole race went so well. I hoped for a PB but to actually go sub 3:15 totally blew me away.

The support and encouragement both leading up to and during the Marathon has been absolutely fantastic. I cannot say how much it has been truly appreciated and how much it contributed to my greatest run so far.

I shall post a more detailed race report soon.

It seems at that rate Eddie you'll be going sub 3hrs by 2010!

Wonderful time and congratulations on the PB. It must have felt sweet to go sub 3:15!

I'm looking forward to all the details and I understand what you said about appreciating all the support it is something else, isn't it? But still, in the final analysis it is you, Eddie, that really pulled this off.

Enjoy all the wraps you desevre them.

By the way what are you going to name your new blog

That was such a strong finish. You looked so comfortable and in control as you passed me over the last bridge. I am absolutely delighted for you. You have been rewarded for all the hard work you put in and deserve to be on a high.

Congratulations Eddie. Great to get a PB on a warm day. All that hard training in the humidity certainly paid off.

I saw your result on the Canberra web site and I suspected it might be a PB. It's a fantastic result Eddie and one that is very richly deserved.

Frankly, I am not surprised that you achieved it. When I ran with you at Christmas I was impressed with your training pace and, other than the flu you came down with, your marathon preparation appeared to be pretty good from what I could tell.

I can't see any reason why you couldn't improve on this time. You have a great attitude to running and you are clearly very fit and healthy. Sky's the limit.

I'm so pleased for you Eddie. That's a great PB - over 10 minutes quicker than 2005! Brilliant. I bet Clairie's jealous ;)

There was a photo of you (half of you) in the local paper. If you haven't seen it, I'll send it to you.

I reckon you can get a 3:0X in the next one, and after that, who knows!
