Thursday 3/3/2005 - Extra

I went to see Steve the Footman today. He says I have Hip Flexor Tendonitis. I am to take it easy for at least 8 days. No long runs over 90 minutes and no speed sessions. Oh well! If I am going to do any good in Canberra I have to do what Steve says.

I am a bit concerned about my lack of long runs and had planned to go out on Saturday with Tesso and her crew but won't be able to now........very disappointing.

Eddie,

Chin up and stay positive!

You don't want to carry an injury like that into Canberra. Get it sorted now so you can do your best on the day.

No need for a second opinion??

As O Runner says Eddie, it is important to get over the hip injury before Canberra.

We all want you fit, fresh and rearing to go when you tackle your first 50km ultra.

You won't know yourself after taking it easy for 8 days. I can vouch that you will get a new lease of life when you start putting a bit of effort in again.

Eddie, I've had the same thing in the past & still get niggles from it; believe me, resting up is the only cure; for some of these types of injury, a cortisone injection does the trick very quickly; might be an idea to ask about it plus some rest. Recover properly otherwise Chickybabe will be close on your heels in Canberra!
